Just one day before closing the chapter on 2025, a trio of Finnish bands took over the stage at Helsinki’s Kulttuuritalo.
Amorphis delivered the penultimate show of their Borderland 2025 tour—set to continue next year across Finland and other parts of the world—joined by Atlas and Wheel, two acts that provided the right contrast to keep the energy flowing from start to finish.
Opening duties fell to Atlas, who raised the flag of modern metal infused with melodic elements and expansive atmospheres. Serving as an effective introduction to the night, Atlas once again made it clear why they have secured a consistent place on Finnish stages. Their set confirmed their reputation as a strong live band.
Wheel followed with a denser, more progressive approach that added weight and tension to the room. While their set leaned toward more complex structures, it connected well with an audience that had already been warming up. Wheel stand out as an engaging force within contemporary Finnish metal, with technical precision that holds attention.
With the venue fully ignited, Amorphis took the stage to remind everyone why they remain one of the most respected institutions in European metal. The band delivered a set that moved confidently through different eras of their discography, showcasing an Amorphis that felt assured, seasoned, and fully aware of its legacy.
The Borderland 2025 tour has served to reaffirm the band’s current creative momentum. Tomi Joutsen’s vocals remained powerful and expressive, while the guitars and keyboards built the epic atmospheres that have defined Amorphis for decades.
The night of December 30 highlighted the strong position of Finnish metal across its various forms, as well as Amorphis’ continued relevance as a central act within the scene.
