After years of hibernation, The Man-Eating Tree returned to the stage with a new lineup, a new album, and a renewed strength.
The Finnish band kicked off a tour this spring with the goal of presenting their powerful and freshly released album Night Verses, which already proved in its studio version that their essence is still very much alive.
However, as if it needed further confirmation, their live presence on the night of May 22nd at On The Rocks in Helsinki proved they are capable of taking us, in just 60 minutes, on a sonic journey filled with melancholy, atmosphere, and musical intensity.
The band currently consists of Manne Ikonen on vocals, Sakke Paavola on guitar, Mika “June” Junttila on bass, Aksu Hanttu on drums, and Janne Markus on guitar and vocals -also the only remaining founding member still active in the group-.
The reactivation of The Man-Eating Tree under the German label Noble Demon is more than justified. The music scene is in dire need of this kind of musical offering; the concept remains captivating and profound, and their new sound still has the power to pull you out of the shadows and immerse you in your own catharsis.
The night was a full declaration of why The Man-Eating Tree is more than just a name to remember in the Finnish metal scene—they are a living, breathing force that honors its legacy and still hungers for more.

The Opening Act: Where’s My Bible
The show was kicked off by the electrifying presence of Where’s My Bible. Their explosive blend of death/black metal, melodies, and nordic mythological themes gave the audience an intense and immersive experience.
Their live set is dynamic and visceral, visually captivating, and delivered with musical prowess that never fails to leave a strong impression.
